Welcome to my blog!
I live by the motto – “Eat Well, Travel Often”. I have been fortunate enough to travel all over the world (Antarctica and Africa excluded [hopefully not for long]), experiencing other people’s culture, food, and history. Soon enough many of my friends sought my advice for which countries they should visit next, and what activities they should plan during their trips. As a general rule (so you can gain context behind my advice), you should know that I’m not for the hostel life, but also not quite at the Four Seasons level
I was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, but moved to Boca Raton, FL in June 2002, after graduating from High School. For those that like to tie everything down, I went to Roy H. Mann JHS and James Madison H.S. in Brooklyn. This is why I know what great food is about – I’m from Brooklyn. I know about diners, Italian food, Jewish delis and bakeries, Chinese/Thai food, burger spots – the list literally goes on forever. NY has some of the best food in the country, so my standards are kind of high, but not impossible to meet.
Currently, I live in Boca Raton, and work in West Palm Beach. I work at a company that provides me with enough PTO (Paid Time Off) to continue my travels – so in the past 4 years, I’ve traveled (internationally) to Australia, Barbados, Cambodia, England, France, French Polynesia (Moorea, Bora Bora, Tahiti), Italy, Greece, Montenegro, New Zealand, Spain, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, and Vietnam. I also travel quite a bit for work within the United States – so from time to time you will see posts about some of the best restaurants I’ve visited in a respective city.
My intent here is to share the wealth when I find a great food or vacay spot. As far as restaurants go, I won’t really focus on service – I’ll mention it, but you never know, it could be a great day or a horrible day, so I don’t want to put my name behind that. But I will speak on the quality of the food – is it too salty, bland, cold, artificial tasting? Stuff like that. And for travel, I want to share with everyone how to travel, where to travel, what to eat/do while travelling. Knock on wood, but I’ve had great experiences every time I go somewhere, and I’d love to share what I’ve learned and which tour operators killed it for us (in a good way :-)). I’m not a paid blogger (yet), but if I ever do receive monetary compensation for visiting a place/trying out a travel-related item, I will advise.
I truly hope you enjoy this blog. Travelling provides me with inspiration, and fills my heart with such joy – I hope I can express some of that to all of you.
Oh and I why LKETravels? My name is Lauren Kimberly Ervin (LKE), and I love to travel – no one has ever accused me of being very creative…
Places I will be traveling to this year: Barbados, Cuba, Haiti, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Nashville, New Orleans, New York, Louisville, St. Maarten, and Puerto Rico.
WOULD LOVE YOUR INPUT!
If you have any tips on what you would like to see me write about, or after looking at the cities/countries I plan to visit this year, you have suggestions for where I should eat, or what I should do, I’d LOVE to hear from you!
